Every cat owner knows how much cats love to lay in a nice warm spot. A cat heating pad can be a place where your kitty can curl up nice and snug. By supplying a specific spot that is always guaranteed to be warm, you can even keep your cat from hopping up on furniture to sit in a sunny spot.

There are different types of pet heating pads. Some are designed for use inside small cages, for animals such as lizards and turtles. This is not what you want for your cat.

Also note that even though manufacturers use the term 'pad', sometimes the product is more like a board that you put a cover over.

Some devices used to keep your pet warm are placed in the microwave to heat up, then placed in the cat bed. Others are electric. The advantage of electric heating pads is that they offer consistent heat all day and all night without any effort. The disadvantage is that you may be constrained to a certain location based on how long the power cord is.

The other thing to consider when buying a cat heating pad is whether or not the cat will be outdoors, or indoors only. If you are looking for something to keep your cat warm outside, be sure to get a heating pad that specifically states that it is usable outdoor.

Most pads do not come with a thermostat that regulates temperature. They are either on, or off, rather than cutting on and off automatically. They all are limited in how hot they will get, and none of the pet heating pads get too hot for your cat, though some come with no cover...just a bare pad which you will want to put something over just to make your cat more comfy.
